The Georgia Tech Internship Program includes full and part-time semesters of work experience. Internships are designed to complement a student’s formal education with major practical experience. They are single-semester, major-related experiences, but many students may work multiple internships and, in some cases, have the option of interning for two consecutive terms (spring and summer or summer and fall). Students can complete multiple internships for the same employer, or they may work for a different employer each work term. Most of the undergraduate interns are sophomores, juniors and seniors.  

Domestic graduate students can intern after their first semester in good academic standing while international graduate students can intern after their second semester. Unpaid internships and community service assignments are also part of this program.

Internship Program Registration

Students are encouraged to register each internship with the Georgia Tech Career Center once they receive their offer. Registration of internships occurs during the same time frame as registration for academic courses, therefore students have to meet the registration deadlines. International students are required to register their experiences with the career center.

Upon registration students are enrolled in an INTN tuition-free non-credit bearing course based on the number of work hours per week, as follows:

Undergraduate Students

10-19 hours per week = 3-hour audit course\ 20-29 hours per week = 6-hour audit course\ 30-35 hours per week = 9-hour audit course\ 36 and up hours per week = 12-hour audit course

Graduate students

6 – 9 hours per week = 3-hour audit course\ 10 – 15 hours per week = 4 -hour audit course\ 16 – 20 hours per week = 6 -hour audit course\ 21 – 31 hours per week = 9-hour audit course\ 32 – 40 hours per week = 12-hour audit course

If you are hiring a graduate student as a part-time intern who works as a Graduate Research Assistant or Graduate Teaching Assistant at Georgia Tech simultaneously, an employer needs to sign an additional form. This form acknowledges that you are aware and are supportive of the student’s commitment to conducting a part-time internship and part-time GRA/GTA position during the dates indicated.

Fall 2025

06-Aug-2025 – Offer Letter Received by student\ 22-Aug-2025 – Deadline to register co-op/internship\ 04-Aug-2025 – Earliest date F-1 students may begin work\ 18-Aug-2025 – Fall classes begin – first day of Fall work term\ 11-Dec-2025 – Last day of work for Fall 2025 Degree Candidates\ 02-Jan-2026 – Last day of work for Fall 2025\ 11-Dec-2025END OF FALL TERM

Spring 2026

03-Jan-2026 – Offer Letter Received by student\ 09-Jan-2026 – Deadline for F-1 students to register co-op/internship\ 16-Jan-2026 – Deadline for domestic students to register co-op/internship\ 15-Dec-2025 – Earliest date F-1 students may begin work\ 12-Jan-2026 – Spring classes begin – first day of Spring work term\ 30-Apr-2026 – Last day of work for Spring 2026 Degree Candidates\ 15-May-2026 – Last day of work for Spring 2026\ 07-May-2026END OF SPRING TERM

Summer 2026

Internship Offers

Student are encouraged to register their internship with the Georgia Tech Career Center once they receive an offer. Please offer ample time for students to make their decision on accepting an offer. Please review our recruiting and offer guidelines when extending an offer to our students.

Very Important

Please include in your internship offer letter(s) the following information:

• Exact start and end date of the internship\ • Job title\ • Hourly pay rate\ • Number of total work hours per week\ • Exact location where students will be working

How to recruit

The process for recruiting interns is the same as it is for recruiting career full- time employment candidates. You will need to sign up for a recruiting account in CareerBuzz our online platform that connects employers with qualified candidates. This is where you may post your position, collect applications, access our Resume Books, and schedule on-campus recruiting visits. We expect all employers to abide by our Co-op and Internship Program Policies. 

Employers who attend career fairs, host information sessions, special presentations, coffee chats or post co-ops and/or internships must adhere to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) guidelines, the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Principles for Employment Professionals, and Georgia Tech’s Career Center recruiting guidelines.
