This event gives students the opportunity to connect directly with GTRI recruiters and Georgia Tech alumni while learning more about internships, research careers, and full-time opportunities in applied science and innovation.
Meet & Greet the GTRI Recruiters\ 1:30 PM – 4:30 PM\ Bill Moore Success Center – President’s Suites\ Drop in before or after class to speak one-on-one with GTRI recruiters about internships, research opportunities, and the skills GTRI looks for in candidates.
GTRI Industry and Alumni Panel\ 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM\ Cypress Theater – John Lewis Student Center\ Hear from College of Sciences alumni working at GTRI as they share their career paths, discuss their work, and offer advice on navigating careers in research and applied science. The panel will be followed by networking with panelists and GTRI representatives.\ Dinner will be served, so plan to arrive on time.

Q & A session where undergraduates can ask anything about the job search, interviewing, and how to secure a meaningful career.\ Facilitator:Laura Garcia, Director of Undergraduate Career Education, Career Center\ Bio: Laura Garcia has 18 years of experience working in collegiate career services in various roles that include employer relations, career coaching, communications, and managing large-scale strategic initiatives. She currently serves as Director of Undergraduate Career Education at the Georgia Institute of Technology Career Center, where she leads a dedicated team committed to helping students discover meaningful careers, strengthen their professional skills, and thrive post-graduation.\ Previously, she served as Associate Director for Recruiting and External Relations at the Emory University Career Center, where she led the employer relations team and partnered with Emory Corporate Relations, Advancement, and the Alumni Association on large-scale programs that expanded career opportunities for students. Before joining Emory, Laura provided comprehensive career coaching to undergraduate and graduate students across all majors at the University of Georgia and Georgia State University.\ Over the course of her career, she has received ten national, regional, and campus awards from the National Association of Colleges and Employers, Georgia Association of Colleges and Employers, Council for Advancement and Support of Education, Career Leadership Collective, and the Georgia Institute of Technology.\ Laura earned a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Clemson University, a Master of Science in College Student Personnel from the University of Tennessee, and an Executive Leadership certificate from Cornell University.

Overcoming Imposter’s Syndrome with Your Job Search & On the Job

Imposter syndrome often shows up most intensely during the job search process, especially when students doubt their skills despite clear evidence of competence. In this workshop, we will explore Gill Corkindale’s definition of imposter syndrome and examine why many high-achieving individuals struggle to internalize success. Participants will learn how chronic self-doubt and perfectionism may impact interviews, networking conversations, and application materials. This event will take place Thursday, April 2, 2026, from 1:00–2:00 PM via Zoom.
We will discuss practical strategies to quiet imposter thoughts and strengthen confidence both during the job search and in workplace environments. Students will walk away with tools to recognize internal barriers, reframe negative self-talk, and present themselves confidently to employers.
