Graduate Programmes FAQs

Since the establishment of School of Biological Sciences (SBS) in 2001, we have always focused on equipping students with the skills and knowledge essential for today’s global environment. \

SBS offers a stimulating environment and diverse areas of research in biological and biomedical sciences. We promote interdisciplinary research through collaboration across boundaries and are committed to doing excellent research and delivering high-level education to our students.\

We currently offer fourdifferent graduate programmes:

  1. PhD (Research)
  2. MSc (Research)
  3. MSc (Coursework) in Biomedical Data Science
  4. MSc (Coursework) in BioBusiness and BioEntrepreneurship

The PhD and MSc Research programmes require the students to perform original and novel research and submit a thesis for examination at the end of their candidature. It takes typically 4 years to complete the PhD and ~1.5 to 2 years for MSc. \

The MSc in Biomedical Data Science is a coursework-based Master’s degree where the students attend a selection of course modules related to biomedical sciences and data sciences. The duration for this program is 1 year.
