A Collaboration Between the Sustainability Office and the ICC Office

The inaugural Sustainability Awards ceremony was held on 6 March 2025, marking the launch of a new initiative to recognise and celebrate student contributions towards advancing sustainability at NTU.

Jointly introduced by the NTU Sustainability Office and the Interdisciplinary Collaborative Core (ICC) Office through the course CC0006 Sustainability: Society, Economy & Environment, the Sustainability Award acknowledges student projects that put forward innovative, feasible, and implementable solutions to real-world sustainability challenges.

The Sustainability Office sponsors cash awards totalling up to S$3,000 each semester to encourage students to examine sustainability issues from social, economic, and environmental perspectives, and to propose impactful and practical solutions.

Problem Statements

The Sustainability Office identifies numerous problem statements as complimentary topics that students may choose to work on, such as:

Students may also select their own topics under Open Categories, exploring any sustainability challenge of their choice.

Evaluation and Implementation

All submissions are first evaluated by the CC0006 teaching team. Selected projects demonstrating strong feasibility are recommended to the Sustainability Office for test-bedding on campus.

A project database has also been developed to track student work. The Sustainability Office will draw from this database to engage part-time student helpers or full-time interns for ongoing projects.
