Semester exchange program

Whether you're considering a semester or a full academic year of a student exchange program, you'll find various courses designed to challenge and inspire you.

Note: We offer a variety of courses under our faculty for the student exchange program. If you require more detailed information of each of the courses, please feel free to contact us at mobiliti.ftsm@ukm.edu.my

Research Internship Program

This program enriches your academic experience through mentorship from experienced researchers and professionals, offers hands-on research projects at our institution, and provides a unique opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world challenges. As a participant, you'll gain international exposure to diverse research environments, enhancing your global perspective and intercultural competence. The duration of the research internship may vary depending on the specific project and arrangement with the host institution.

Students interested in this program should typically be enrolled in a relevant academic program, demonstrate a strong academic record, and have a keen interest in pursuing research. Potential mentors will interview students as part of the selection process.

Semester exchange program

This program offers students a chance to study at a partner institution abroad for one academic semester, allowing you to immerse yourself in a new educational and cultural environment while earning credits toward your degree at our institution. This program provides academic opportunities to enroll in courses that align with your goals, transfer credits back to your program, and have a unique cultural experience, enabling you to engage with local students and gain a broader global perspective. Additionally, you'll be able to build valuable connections with international peers and professionals, enhancing your global network.

Research Internship / Visiting Students Program

This program offers students the chance to undertake research internships or visit partner institutions abroad, providing hands-on experience in their field of study. This program enables you to work closely with researchers or academic professionals on significant projects, enhancing your academic and professional growth. To be eligible, you must have a strong academic record and demonstrate a clear research interest relevant to the program.

FTSM students interested in applying to the faculty's mobility fund must submit a formal request to the Mobility Coordinator. Application procedures are as follows:

The JAIST Partner University Master Connection Program (JUMP) is an academic initiative between the Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST) and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). The official signing ceremony for the JUMP program's Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) took place on November 4, 2024, at the UKM Chancellery.

JUMP serves as a pathway for UKM students to engage in research internships and pursue a master’s program at JAIST. UKM undergraduate students are eligible to apply. Selected candidates will complete an internship lasting a minimum of one week and a maximum of three months, followed by enrollment in the master's program (October intake) at JAIST, with financial support provided by JAIST.
