Sapienza's Policies for Research and Innovation

The Sapienza's Policies for Research and Innovation, approved by Academic Senate Resolution No. 177 of 8 July 2025, defines Sapienza's strategic guidelines, in line with Sapienza's Strategic Plan and the Statute.
These policies aim to strengthen scientific excellence, international competitiveness, the creation of public value and social responsibility in order to address the challenges of the national and European context.
Sapienza's strategies are based on a number of key cross-cutting principles: the centrality of human capital, the promotion of interdisciplinary research, a focus on social responsibility, the enhancement of scientific infrastructure and laboratories, and the adoption of digital tools for the management and monitoring of research activities.
These principles are translated into comprehensive policies aimed at supporting a modern, ethical and competitive research ecosystem at national and international level:

2. Strengthening infrastructure and research laboratories
Sapienza has developed an integrated infrastructure policy to consolidate scientific excellence and interdisciplinary collaboration, with over €30 million in investments over the last five years (thanks in part to PNRR funds and competitive calls for proposals).

The creation of public value is a priority, aimed at generating solutions in key sectors such as health, the environment, culture and technology.

Through dedicated national and international calls for proposals, Sapienza supports projects with institutions in developing countries, promoting knowledge transfer and the establishment of partnerships.
