1.     Benefits and conditions

With the ‘Dual Career' Programme, Sapienza offers a range of services and benefits for those who enrol in a degree programme and simultaneously practise sport at a professional level, in accordance with the provisions specified in paragraph 2 of this article. The programme offers concrete opportunities to successfully balance academic and sporting commitments and maximise potential in both fields.

The 'Dual Career' Programme includes:

flexible conditions for exams and lessons; tutoring; recognition of CFUs (university credits), etc., as set out in the 'Dual Career' Regulations available on the university website (Academic Senate Resolution No. 83 of 26/03/2024). Go to page

With regard to financial benefits, the scheme provides for the annual payment of a flat fee for enrolment in the degree programme of €30 (+ regional tax + stamp duty) if all the following conditions are met:

To achieve “student athlete” status and participate in the 'Dual Career' programme, you must meet the requirements specified below:

B Sporting requirements (you must fall into one of the following categories in the calendar year of application or the previous one):

B1. you have won Olympic, Paralympic, absolute or category (Italian, European or world) games in winter and summer Olympic and/or Paralympic disciplines;

B2 you have been called up by your Federation to represent Italy in winter and summer Olympic and/or Paralympic disciplines;

B3. you have taken part in preparation programmes for the Summer and Winter Olympic/Paralympic Games;

B4. you belong to a professional team sports Club referred to in Law No. 91/1981 (law on professional sports) that participates in federal championships and has ranked in the top 3 positions;

B5. for individual sports, you have participated in an absolute or category national championship or have received a call-up to an absolute or category national team to participate in an international sporting event;

B6. you have been recognised as an “Athlete of National Interest” by the relevant National Sports Federation officially recognised by CONI or by the relevant Sports Federations officially recognised by CIP (Italian Paralympic Committee) for Paralympic activities (FSP 4FSNP5);

B7. you have represented the University in national and international competitive events (Universiade, World/European/National University Championships);

B8. you have been called up to the CUSI national teams or the CUS teams in reference to the University Championships;

B9. you belong to a military sports group with an ‘athlete role’.

Applications to join the Dual Career programme must be submitted annually and are assessed by the Sapienza Sport Centre Commission, which accepts or rejects them within one month of submission.

For the academic year 2025-2026, applications must be submitted within 15 calendar days of the deadline for payment of the first instalment of the enrolment fees or enrolment fees for your degree programme.
