Sapienza promotes and supports the participation of professors, researchers and PhD students in programmes and funding calls published by public and private bodies at local, national and international level in order to:
- facilitate access to sources of research funding;
- promote innovation and high-quality research;
- foster research productivity and competitiveness;
- attracting top talent and fostering mobility of researchers;
- aggregate cross-cutting activities and competences;
- foster collaboration and exchange with other actors at local, national, international level;
- contribute to research responses to global societal challenges.

- dissemination of research funding opportunities
- organisation of training and information days
- scouting of opportunities and pre-feasibility assessment of project ideas
- support for the presentation and drafting of project proposals;
- support to administrative management, reporting and auditing activities of funded projects
- networking and direct interaction with funding bodies
- monitoring and updating of data on programme participation.
Among the most relevant external funding channel is:
- Horizon Europe programme, the main financial instrument promoted by the European Union for the period 2021-2027, which is divided into various and multiple sections
