The Social Sustainability Report provides an annual update on Sapienza's progress against the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations 2030 Agenda. The results are presented in the sections on the different activities, and a table at the end allows you to search the contents for each goal.
Sapienza takes part in international sustainability rankings
The 2024 Social Sustainability Report was prepared in accordance with the Social and Sustainability Reporting Standard developed by RUS and the Gruppo Bilancio e Sostenibilità (GBS). The report highlights the results achieved in terms of services provided to the community and links initiatives and actions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It describes Sapienza's commitment to sustainability in all its dimensions: social, environmental and economic.
The Report contains an appendix on structural commitments undertaken by Sapienza University of Rome towards sustainability. Among the actions implemented are initiatives for decarbonisation, interventions for water resources at Sapienza, the application of the “Do Not Significant Harm” principle in PNRR projects, and an initiative for small and medium-sized enterprises on measuring sustainability according to ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) indicators.
With regard to the SDGs relating to social and political issues, in 2024 Sapienza's commitment to fighting the mafia, linked to SDG 16 Peace and Justice, Strong Institutions, was maintained with its participation in the Giornata della memoria e dell’impegno in ricordo delle vittime delle mafie on March 21, with numerous initiatives organised by the faculties and student associations to promote legality.
