Sapienza University annually finances the implementation of joint research activities by international visiting professors.

Sapienza professors can apply for funding, according to the procedures foreseen in the call, for the following types of visits for research activities:

Category A: Visits for periods of 30 days, to be carried out on an ongoing basis;
Category B: Visits for periods of 90 days, to be carried out on an ongoing basis.

Category A visits are reserved for visiting professors that are deemed "outstanding researchers or professors" (i.e., researchers and professors with an excellent track record and in possession of international awards for their scientific and / or academic achievements).

The contribution for the visiting professor, subject to current tax legislation, is equal to:

€ 5,000.00 gross / month for Category A visits;
€ 3,000.00 gross / month for Category B visits.

The contribution shall be taxed at source applying an 8,5% Regional tax+ 30% Income tax. For category B visits, for non EU residents, a further social security contribution shall be applied on the amount exceeding 5.000€. Upon request, and depending on the administration's acceptance, if an agreement against double taxation should be in place, tax regulations of the professor's home country may be applied instead.

Call 2025

Visiting Professors call 2025 for the funding of joint research/teaching activities according to the following categories: A - visits for periods of 30 days, B - visits for periods of 90 days;

Call for solidarity in research and educationfor visiting professors in countries at risk or facing critical economic or social situations, for joint research and/or teaching activities.\
