1. Requirements and terms

You can attend individual courses and take the relevant exams, subject to requirements and terms that vary depending on the purpose of your request.

If you are a citizen of a foreign country (EU or non-EU), please read point 2 (letters b and c).

The following is a list of the cases specified:

A. For reasons of cultural refresher courses and professional skills integration. In this case, you can only enrol in courses available in bachelor's degree programmes or second level degree programmes that do not have a number of places limited by admission restrictions. You can enrol if:

B. To meet the curricular requirements (exams and educational credits) required for admission to Sapienza's second level two-year degree programmes for the current academic year.

In this case, you can enrol in courses (without any limit on the number) available in bachelor's degree or second level degree programmes, including those with limited enrolment, only after the assessment of the requirements set out in the notices or in the call for applications for the academic year in which you intend to enrol.

You can enrol if:

Regular certification of exams taken as single exams will be available on Infostud and will only be issued after enrolment in the second level degree programme.

Exams taken as “single exams” cannot be used as justification for requesting a shortened course and cannot be part of the educational programme of the degree programme you are enrolling in.

Exams taken as single exams cannot be part of the first-cycle educational programme and do not count towards your grade point average.

C. To meet the requirements for admission to specialisation schools or public competitions.

In this case, you can enrol in courses (without any limit on the number) available in bachelor's degree programmes or second level degree programmes with limited enrolment, complying with the attendance requirement, if applicable. You can enrol if:

Regular certification of exams taken as single exams will be available on Infostud.

D. For the early taking of two exams of a Sapienza second level two-year degree programme (not with scheduled admission) which you intend to enrol in during the academic year 2026-2027.

You can only access this option if you have been awarded a degree from Sapienza:

In this case, you can only enrol in courses available in second level degree programmes that do not have scheduled admission, and you must have the authorisation of the Educational Council of your degree programme by sending your application by email to the President of your degree programme in the terms specified on the page https://www.uniroma1.it/it/node/28758

Before sending your request to take exams early, we recommend that you conduct an assessment with your teaching department to ensure that the courses are valid for the following academic year.

Exams must be taken before enrolling in the second level degree programme, otherwise it will not be possible to record them and include them in your academic record.

Within 15 days of paying the first instalment of the enrolment fee for the second level degree programme, you must submit a stamped application for recognition of the exams taken to the Student Administration Office.

Recognition can only take place if you meet the admission requirements for the second level degree programme to which the exams taken relate.

The application must be sent by email to your administrative office following the procedures specified on the page https://www.uniroma1.it/it/node/28758

E. For the acquisition of credits within the scope of “student-chosen activities”. You can only access this option if you are regularly enrolled in Sapienza's inter-university bachelor's degree programmes and second level degree programmes, or at partner universities, and you enrol in individual exams to acquire the credits required for the ‘student-chosen activities’.

F. If you are regularly enrolled at a foreign university and request enrolment in individual exams to take exams as part of international mobility programmes and agreements regulated by reciprocity conditions.

2. Procedures

A. You can submit your request on the Infostud system after contacting the relevant Academic Office to request the name and code of the course (or courses) and the name and code of the degree programme that provides it, and to obtain prior authorisation. Following your application, the system will generate the payment of the required fee on Infostud. Once you have paid the fee, you can book your exams, again through the Infostud system.

B. If you are a citizen of a non-EU country and are permanently resident abroad, you are required to submit a pre-registration application for individual exams via the Universitaly platform by 30 November 2025. The pre-registration application will only be validated after payment of the individual exam registration fee.

C. If you are a citizen of an EU or non-EU country and are legally resident in Italy, you must have a valid residence permit and, if applicable, a receipt for your renewal application, which must be uploaded to the personal documents section of your Infostud profile before submitting your application for enrolment in individual programmes.

3. Deadlines

There are no deadlines for submitting applications, except for those who are citizens of a non-EU country and reside permanently abroad (see point 2 b above).

You must take the individual exams within the academic year of the request (31 January 2027) and only if you are not enrolled in a Sapienza degree programme.

4. Costs

A. The costs for taking single exams at Sapienza, to be paid for each exam as registration fees, vary depending on the reasons:

€360 for each exam;

B. You are exempt from paying the fee:

5. Individual programmes at other universities

If you are regularly enrolled in a Sapienza degree programme and intend to take single exams at other universities, you must obtain prior written authorisation from the teaching departments of your degree programme. This authorisation must be sent to your Administrative Office.

Under no circumstances will exams taken at other universities be recognised in the Sapienza educational programme as exams useful for obtaining the degree.
