Financial Aid Process

Financial aid consists of scholarships, grants, loans and Federal Work-Study. Some financial aid is merit-based, meaning you compete for aid based on academic achievement. Other aid is need-based meant to help when family and personal resources are unable to cover your total educational costs.\

The Ohio State University makes every effort to make a world-class education both accessible and affordable. The Ohio State Tuition Guarantee, which keeps costs flat for four years for each entering class, provides incoming students and their families certainty about the cost of in-state tuition, general fees, housing and dining. Ohio State also provides federal, state and university financial aid funds, such as the President's Affordability Grant, to eligible students in an effort to help families secure the funds they need to help pay for college.

Your first step in finding out what aid you might be eligible for is to file the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). If you're not ready to file, you can get an early estimate of your aid using Ohio State's Net Price Calculator.
