In the artist’s own words: "I saw this young lady at the railway station of Darjeeling (a hill station in India) while she was waiting to catch a train. Women of Darjeeling are typically very hard working and they have a matriarchal society. In many ways, her face resembled the local women to me, showcasing struggle, hard work and poverty all over, which is why I found her face fascinating and decided to click her."
