In the artist’s own words: "The Sun Voyager, translated to Sólfar in Icelandic, is a sculpture overlooking the North Atlantic Ocean. This modern take on an old norse icon, the Scandinavian Longship, is the embodiment of Icelandic culture. Iceland is about embracing change while still proudly showcasing its history. The Icelandic culture is very timid but warm. This image is the perfect dichotomy of old and new. Here is the perfect blend of nature and culture. This piece is meant to inspire us to explore the culture more than the tourist destinations. So, velkominn til islands, a land of love and adventure."
