Sawiris Scholars Program

The Sawiris Scholars Program is funded by a generous gift from the NNS Foundation — a charity fund settled by University trustee Nassef Sawiris, AB’82 — and in collaboration with the Sawiris Foundation in Egypt.

Since 2007, the Program has welcomed top students from universities in Egypt. Exchange undergraduates from Cairo University, Ain Shams University, Alexandria University and the American University in Cairo study in the College for a full academic year before returning to their home institutions. The Scholars are fully integrated into campus life, receiving the same access to courses and professional development resources as degree-seeking students, participating in sports and student organizations, and enjoying all that the city of Chicago has to offer. Through the program, they receive a full scholarship that covers school tuition and fees, international transportation, housing, health insurance and living stipend.
