Tuition Remission Benefits

UChicago students may be eligible for external or internal remission benefits for themselves or through parental employment.

External Remission

External Remission refers to a benefit earned through employment external to the University of Chicago. Those students who are eligible for External Remission must submit corresponding eligibility information to the Office of the Bursar no later than 60 days prior to the start of the quarter in which they wish to utilize their benefit for payment.

Students should submit their request for External Remission processing by submitting our Bursar Student Contact Form. Please attach all relevant documentation.

Internal or University of Chicago Remission

Internal or University of Chicago Remission refers to a benefit earned by a UChicago employee to be used to reduce tuition charges for the eligible individual. Those employees who are eligible apply for the benefit through their Human Resources Department. For further information please go to the UChicago Intranet >  Benefits & Career > Benefits > Tuition Benefits. Those eligible for the benefit are encouraged to apply for the benefit 60 days before the start of the quarter in which they wish to utilize their benefit for payment.
