Art History doctoral alumna Maggie Borowitz' book An Unofficial History of Mexican Pink has been awarded The Andy Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant.
From the foundation: "Maggie Borowitz’s book An Unofficial History of Mexican Pink will examine the history of the color rosa mexicano (Mexican pink) and its appearance in art, architecture, fashion, design, and activism over the last century. This “unofficial history” will unpack Mexican pink’s relationship to issues of gender, sexuality, indigeneity, and nationalism.
Maggie Borowitz is an art historian whose research explores the intersection of contemporary visual art and politics in the Americas, with a focus on the work of feminist and proto-feminist practices in Mexico."
