UChicago Climate and Energy Careers is a multi-industry track at Career Advancement, serving students interested in careers focused on energy, climate change, and more!

Climate and energy are critical issues facing all industries and sectors, from for-profit businesses to advocacy organizations to governments at all levels. Students can engage with a variety of Career Advancement programs, Jeff Metcalf Internships, and career treks to maximize their growth and impact!

Energize

Learn about career pathways focused on climate, energy, and the environment through networking with alumni and employers. Energize is UChicago’s largest networking event for students and employers with a distinct focus on energy, climate, and sustainability. UChicago Conservation Corps and Global Water Innovation Cohort

Students who obtain qualifying Conservation Corps or Global Water Innovation Cohort internships participate in professional development programming together with their peers to explore the sustainability and conservation sectors.

[Wanxiang Ambassador Fellow Program

UChicago Career Advancement partners with the Wanxiang Corporation to offer a summer program to send UChicago students to China for a six-week, pre-professional educational experience focused on exposing students to Chinese culture and language. [Clean Energy Track

The Clean Energy Track is an interactive program designed to foster exploration into clean energy career pathways. Sustainability Innovation Competition

Climate and Energy Careers host student competitions to promote professional development. In the past, competitions have focused on ESG reporting in the European Union, water innovation in Chicago, and efficient routes to decarbonize the United States.

Career “treks” are experiences that give students the opportunity to travel to a new city and meet potential employers. These are incredible opportunities to explore your interests, build your network, and stand out in the recruiting process!
