- The fair is open to all undergraduates, as well as students from UChicago's professional and graduate programs. It's an excellent opportunity to connect with employers looking for both full-time hires and academic year or summer interns.

Tips to Prepare

Update Your Resume
Upload your most recent resume to Handshake that includes your summer activities; complete and update your UChicago Handshake profile. You'll have the opportunity to add your resume to the resume book if you'd like to have it shared with employers participating in the fair.

Do Your Research
Research employers ahead of the fair: check open positions on Handshake and employer's website, "follow" employers attending the fair and employers you want to check back in with, sign up for their newsletters to receive information on recruiting events and timelines.

Find Alumni Contacts
Identify UChicago alumni at your target organizations and start making connections before the fair. The UChicago Alumni Directory and LinkedIn are great research tools!

Practice Your Pitch
Create your “elevator pitch.” Practice giving a quick overview of your experience, skills, and interests.

Dress to Impress
Participants in the career fair should plan to wear business professional attire. The Beta Epsilon Chapter of UChicago's Alpha Kappa Psi developed the Professional Closet to provide free access to business formal attire for the entire UChicago Community to ensure that every student has an equal opportunity to make a strong first impression in professional settings. Find the items you need on their website, add them to your cart, and return them after a week.
