## The Parent & Family Program
Engagement with the College can take many different forms, ranging from attending the University’s national [Harper Lectures](https://alumniandfriends.uchicago.edu/lifelong-learning/harper-lectures) to giving initiatives to volunteer opportunities.
The College benefits from parents’ and families’ vast range of skills, interests, and talents. Whether hosting internships and networking events for current students, or providing a helping hand during Family Weekend and other family-themed events, volunteering allows parents and families to contribute to College life.

The generosity shown by families has helped to the College build and expand many of the hallmark programs that make it such a special place. We invite philanthropically-minded parents to consider making a gift to the College or getting involved with one of our giving groups listed below:
- [College Parents Council](/about/deans-parent-and-family-council): The College Parents Council is a group of engaged parents who support Dean Melina Hale's priorities through advocacy, volunteerism, and philanthropy.
- [Giving societies across campus](https://alumniandfriends.uchicago.edu/s/communities-giving-societies): From The Chicago Society to the Odyssey Scholarship Society, the University honors generous and loyal donors at all levels through giving societies that offer special recognition, exclusive communications and invitations, and more.
