Accreditation

The University of Maryland, College Park is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), http://msche.org, under the authority of the U.S. Department of Education. Contact information:

Authorization

The University of Maryland, College Park is authorized to operate in the state of Maryland by the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC), http://mhec.maryland.gov. All degree and certificate programs are approved by MHEC and the University System of Maryland. The university adheres to MHEC's student complaint process.

The University of Maryland, College Park is a participating institution in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA), http://nc-sara.org, and is thereby authorized to offer online programs in all participating NC-SARA states and territories. The university adheres to NC-SARA's student complaint process for students in online programs.

Individual programs operating in Washington, DC, have been authorized by the Higher Education Licensing Commission of Washington, DC, http://helc.osse.dc.gov. Pursuant to DC's Official Code, the District of Columbia Higher Education Licensure Commission is the agency of last resort in the grievance process.
