Exemptions

All freshman applicants must complete STARS with the following exemptions:

GED Graduates

GED graduates must submit their official GED results, along with official partial high school transcript(s).

Students who attended a school outside of the U.S.

Any student who attended a high school outside of the U.S. for more than one semester, regardless of whether they graduated/will graduate from a United States high school, will be exempt from submitting the STARS. Refer to international admissions for more information on submitting transcripts.

Attending a high school that does not give A-F grades

While rare, some students attend schools that do not provide A-F grades or do not provide grades that can be easily converted to A-F grades. This would include narrative evaluations, a mastery transcript, or other non-standard evaluation. If you believe this applies to you, contact the Office of Admissions after submitting your application.

FAQ

Home-Schooled Students

If you have followed an educational curriculum patterned after the traditional U.S. system, you will complete the STARS. If the curriculum followed cannot be represented on the STARS, contact Admissions via our Contact Us page for further instruction.

Incomplete and Incorrect STARS

All freshman applicants who are not exempt from the STARS requirement as outlined above must complete and link the STARS for admission. Note that a high school transcript submitted from the high school or through a third-party vendor, like Naviance or Parchment, DOES NOT substitute for the STARS requirement. The Courses & Grades section of the Common App also DOES NOT meet the STARS requirement. If you are unable to complete the STARS, contact Admissions via our Contact Us page.

Once submitted, your STARS will be reviewed by our committee. If a mistake is noted (for example, a one credit class reported incorrectly), you will receive an email stating the mistake(s). To complete the STARS requirement, you will need to fix the mistake and resubmit your STARS.

Middle School Courses for High School Credit

Every academic course that you attempted for high school credit while in middle school must be listed on the STARS. The STARS entry process allows you to state that the courses were taken while in middle school.

STARS Changes after Submission

We want your STARS to be as accurate as possible. If you need to make corrections, or if your schedule changes, you should update your STARS.

How to make changes:

Sending Official Final Transcripts

If you are admitted to UF and choose to enroll, you will be required to submit an official final transcript from your high school and any college you have attended by July 1 for verification by the Office of Admissions. Admissions will use your transcript(s) to verify the accuracy of your STARS.
