This petition compares your cost of attendance to your actual expenses to adjust for differences for items such as: (Expenses must be paid by the student to be reviewed.)

Undergraduate, Graduate and Professional will be reviewed after drop/add each term.
The Colleges of Medicine, Law, Veterinary Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy will be reviewed within 7-10 business days due to their differing semester start and end dates.

: This petition reviews for changes to your FAFSA information such as: : - Loss of Income - Divorce/Separation - Death of a Parent/Spouse - Increased Required Paid Dental/Medical Expenses

Dependency Override Appeal/Petition
: If you are experiencing one of the following or something not listed below, please complete the Dependency Override Petition so we can review your unusual circumstances to determine if you should be “Independent” on the FAFSA.
- Documented abandonment
- Parental drug use
- Parental mental incapacity
- Physical or emotional abuse
- Severe estrangement from parents
- Parental Incarceration
- Homeless or At Risk of Being Homeless
**The following DO NOT warrant a Dependency Override according to federal law:**
- Parents refuse to provide information on the FAFSA application or for verification.
- Parents do not claim student as a dependent for income tax purposes.
- Student demonstrates self-sufficiency.
