Under the Florida Board of Governors Admission Regulation 6.005 if you are obtaining a high school diploma and an associate of arts (A.A.) degree through dual enrollment from an institution within the Florida College System or State University System, you have two options for admission consideration as a first-time-in-college (FTIC) student.

The recommended path for consideration is completing a freshman application and then going through the freshman process (completing the STARS, formerly SSAR, and submitting your SAT, ACT and/or CLT scores) and receiving a freshman decision. If we cannot offer you admission through that process, then we will ask if you would like to be considered as a transfer student and create a transfer application on your behalf so you would have both avenues available for admission consideration.

The other path is being considered only as a transfer student. This path does not consider test scores in the admissions review but the colleges will be looking at the prerequisites needed for your intended major and your college GPA to evaluate competitiveness. The opportunity for transfer students to change their major after admission is extremely limited so you need to consider your choice of major carefully. Transfer admissions are reviewed on a different timeline so your decision may not be available before May 1st.

If you are admitted under the FL BOG 6.005 regulation and do not intend to receive your A.A. degree, you must notify the Office of Admissions immediately. If you do not receive your A.A. before enrollment at UF, we may rescind your admission.

Graduation

Graduation from a regionally accredited or state-approved secondary school or the equivalent (G.E.D., etc.)

Academic Credits

Sixteen academic units, distributed as follows:

4 Years of English (with substantial writing)
4 Years of Mathematics (at or above the Algebra 1 level)
3 Years of Natural Sciences (two units must include a laboratory)
3 Years of Social Sciences
2 Years of a foreign language (must be sequential)

Grade Point Average

A minimum of a cumulative C grade point average in the academic core, as computed by the university, at all institutions attended (high school and college).

Dual Enrollment

Students taking dual-enrollment courses must present a minimum 2.0 GPA at every institution attended.

Conduct

A record of good conduct. Major or continuing difficulty with school or other officials may render an applicant ineligible regardless of academic qualifications.

SAT, ACT or Classic Learning Test (CLT)

All applicants must submit test scores from the SAT, ACT and/or CLT. UF will superscore (take the highest scores for each subsection, not including Science) to create the highest possible total score. UF does not require or encourage applications or applicants to complete the essay portion of the ACT.

SAT, ACT and/or CLT scores can be sent directly from the testing agency or self-reported through your application status page.

Update to ACT Score Calculation Process at UF

In response to recent changes from ACT, UF will no longer require a Science score to be eligible for admissions. In accordance with Florida Board of Governors Regulation 6.008, UF will update its ACT score calculation process to align with these changes.

Going forward, ACT composite scores used for admissions evaluation and superscoring will include only the required sections: Reading, English, and Mathematics. The Science section will no longer be factored into superscores.

Starting with 2025-26 graduating class, the ACT Science section is optional for Bright Futures.

Home-Schooled or Non-Accredited Students

Homeschooled students or students at non-accredited schools are considered for admission using the same holistic review process applied to other freshman applicants. In addition to grades and SAT, ACT and/or CLT scores, students attending a homeschool or a non-accredited school are encouraged to take core classes and submit grades from an accredited secondary or post-secondary institution. While not required, students may also submit results from AP/IB tests for consideration.

If you have followed an educational curriculum patterned after the traditional U.S. system, you will complete the STARS. If the curriculum followed cannot be represented on the STARS, contact Admissions via our Contact page for further instruction.

These are the minimum requirements for applying to UF. Note that admission to UF is competitive, and most admitted students will exceed these requirements.
