Academic scholarships, beyond what is offered in your initial aid package, may be available through your college or department.

Tuition Exchange Program

UF is a member of the Tuition Exchange Inc., a non-profit organization with a membership of more than 586 Colleges and Universities in 47 states, the District of Columbia, and the United Kingdom. Membership includes private as well as public institutions, research and doctoral universities, liberal arts colleges and comprehensive institutions of higher education, and specialized schools.

Through Tuition Exchange, employee dependents attend colleges and universities other than their home institution. UF waives in-state and out-of-state tuition for a limited number of children of employees at participating institutions. Students must meet all admission requirements. The number of awards available depends on the number of UF employee dependents accepted by other participating institutions and the availability of funds.

Athletic Scholarships

Students (or their high school coach) interested in athletic scholarships should contact the coaches of the sports in which they are interested. Students should call (352) 375-4683 or write the University Athletic Association, P. O. Box 14485, University of Florida, Gainesville, FL 32604-2485, for coaches’ names, addresses, and phone numbers. Intercollegiate athletic endowment funds are listed at the UF Foundation Web site.

Samuel P. Harn Museum of Art Scholarships and Fellowships

Additional information, applications and instructions for the following three internships can be found on the Harn Museum’s website.

Deadlines: deadlines for all internships are October 15 for the next year’s spring term; March 15 for summer term, and June 1 for the fall term.

McNair Scholars Program

Study Abroad Services

The following awards are available for students who meet the following basic criteria (each scholarship may have additional criteria or restrictions):

  1. Are at least 18 years old by the start of the program of choice
  2. Are a U.S. resident or legal permanent citizen
  3. Completed a Study Abroad Scholarship Application (available on the Study Abroad website)
  4. Provide two letters of recommendation, a statement of purpose essay and an official UF transcript.
  5. Have a minimum 2.5 GPA (some scholarships require higher)
  6. Show proof of acceptance to the program of choice

Application Deadlines: February 1 for summer; March 1 for fall and academic year programs; September 20 for spring programs.\ For more information, see the Study Abroad Services scholarship page.

UF College and Departmental Study Abroad Scholarships

Several UF colleges and departments offer their own specific study abroad awards. Check with the department for your program or major to see if there are any scholarship opportunities for study abroad. Below are listed some the scholarships that our students routinely receive for study abroad. However, contact your college for more information even if they are not included on the list below.

In addition to UFIC and UF scholarships there are several nationally funded scholarships that students may be eligible to receive. Our office serves as a resource for reviewing student applications and offering feedback accordingly. Some of the more popular national scholarships for study abroad are listed below.

University Honors Program

The Awards Division of UF’s University Honors Program serves as a source of information for any UF student considering applying to one or more of these nationally recognized awards. The fellowships require an extensive period of preparation before a student will be able to submit an application, so students should contact the appropriate awards advisor far in advance of the campus deadline for both domestic and overseas fellowships.\ You do not have to have been a member of the Honors Program to apply. John V. Lombardi Scholarship

The University of Florida offers the distinguished John V. Lombardi Scholarship to a select group of incoming students who demonstrate exceptional intellectual curiosity, creativity, civic responsibility, and leadership potential. Lombardi Scholars receive a four-year scholarship, along with four fully funded summer enrichment experiences. These include opportunities for study abroad and a weeklong domestic leadership retreat, designed to enhance both academic achievement and personal growth. Students admitted to the Honors Program through Early Action will be invited to apply for this prestigious scholarship.

Stamps Scholarship

The Honors Program is proud to partner with the Stamps Scholars Program to offer prestigious four-year scholarships to outstanding undergraduate students. Stamps Scholars are provided with opportunities to explore their academic passions while enhancing their leadership and cultural skills through enriching summer experiences as part of a collaborative cohort. Students admitted to the Honors Program through Early Action will receive an invitation to apply for this distinguished scholarship.

Albert G. Raybun Scholarship

This is a need-based scholarship for juniors following a pre-medical course of study, to support them during their senior year. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and must submit a letter stating “the circumstances for requesting aid”. All applicants must have a current FAFSA on file with the Financial Aid office. For more information see Albert G. Rayburn scholarship. Minimum grants are $500; maximum $1000.

UF Gator Club Scholarships

Gator Clubs® exist under the umbrella of the University of Florida Alumni Association for the benefit of UF, its alumni, parents, friends and students. With many locations and diversity, Gator Clubs® serve to sponsor education and professional seminars, provide scholarship opportunities, host social and athletic functions, design community service projects and foster young alumni programming. Membership in Gator Clubs® is open to all alumni, parents, friends and students of the university.

The UF Alumni Association-chartered Gator Clubs® sponsor scholarships for students attending UF from all over Florida, as well as many other parts of the country. Gator Club® scholarships are awarded based upon criteria established by each Gator Club®, including, but not limited to academic merit, school involvement, and community involvement.
