# Sadiq Aliyu

I am a PhD student in the Department of Information Systems at the University of Lausanne, under the supervision of Professor Mauro Cherubini. My PhD research tackles the next frontier in social media safety and privacy in three ways:

(1) **Investigating Personal Information Disclosure**: By examining the role and form of personal information disclosure in cyberbullying incidents across diverse and representative samples from the USA and Nigeria, my research sheds light on how cultural factors influence cyberbullying behaviors and victimization patterns.

(2) **Participatory design with Young Adults in Switzerland**: In the second phase of my research, I break new ground by involving young adults in Switzerland, a group often underrepresented in cyberbullying research, in the co-design process of solutions, to ensure that the solutions reflect their needs, concerns, and desires.

(2)**Developing and Testing a Real-Time Support Application in Nigeria**: In the third and final phase of research, I developed and tested a real-time application for students in Nigeria that offers a multitude of support options, including informational resources, peer-to-peer interaction, and access to counseling, to empower victims to seek immediate support.

Together, these three approaches provide a comprehensive and universal perspective on cyberbullying, addressing the issue from multiple cultural, regional, and practical angles.
