# Microsoft 0ffice-2019/2021 installation and activation process

**Microsoft 0ffice-2019/2021 installation and activation process in WINDOWS OS:**

- **First uninstall all the previous version of Microsoft Office from the system and make sure that the Time Zone is set to (UTC+05:30) Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi and time/date is correct then follow these steps:**
- Download MS\_Office2019.zip file for Microsoft Office 2019 **OR** MS\_Office2021.zip file for Microsoft Office 2021 from software repo (<http://swrepo.iitkgp.ac.in>)
- Extract (unzip) the downloaded zip file.
- Open command prompt (Press the Windows Start button at the bottom left --> Type in "cmd" --> Right click on Command Prompt and click "Run as administrator")
- Go to the folder where you extracted downloaded file and copy the path (hold Shift and right-click on extracted folder, then select "Copy as Path" from the context menu)

*The command below assumes that you extracted downloaded file in "Downloads\MS\_Office2019" folder.*\
CD "extracted file path" (CD Downloads\MS\_Office2019)

- Run the setup by using following command:

setup /configure configuration-Office2019Enterprise.xml (**for Microsoft Office 2019**)\
**OR** \
setup /configure configuration-Office2021Enterprise.xml (**for Microsoft Office 2021**)

- Start an office application and click Accept to agree to the license terms.
- Open a Command Prompt window **"As Administrator"**  and go to Office installed folder in your computer. *The command below assumes that you installed Office in the default location*

CD \Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office16

- Type the following command:\
  cscript ospp.vbs /sethst:kms.iitkgp.ac.in and press Enter.\
  You should get an acknowledgement that the KMS was set correctly
- Type the following command:\
  cscript ospp.vbs /act and press Enter
- Done.
