Australian National University (ANU) Future Research Talent (FRT) Award

The FRT is a competitive and prestigious program attracting the best students from top tier Indian institutions. The program allows India’s emerging research talent to form international connections and develop research skills at Australia’s best university.

The Future Research Talent (FRT) program provides selected Indian students with an opportunity to pursue a collaborative research project remotely or in presence with supervisors from The Australian National University (ANU), for a period of 10-12 weeks, in a range of Science, Health and Medicine disciplines.

DAAD- Combined Study and Practice Stays for Engineers from India (KOSPIE)

Who can apply

Master students

Duration

7 months (September – March)

Value

• 861 €/month + additional allowances
• Lump sum travel subsidy of 1,050 €
• Health, accident and personal liability insurance by DAAD
• German language course

Deadline

The students must apply online first and thereafter submit the application to OIR within the deadline of 31st March 2022, 17:00 hrs IST.

Eligibility

• Students from select Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) enrolled in MTech in broad fields of engineering, mathematics and natural sciences with minimum 8.5 CGPA
• Students enrolled in the 2nd semester of a 2 year Master’s
• Students enrolled in the 8th semester of a 5-year integrated or a dual degree programme

Funding For

Research at one of the technical universities (only TU9s)

Application Procedure: Applicant\

• The scholar applies through the application portal
• Indian Supervisor helps the scholars with the search of the prospective host at the TU9 technical university
• The scholar uploads all required documents mentioned in the announcement of www.funding-guide.de
• An application summary is generated after successful submission of the application
• The students must apply online first and thereafter submit the application to OIR within the announced deadline, which falls typically on or around 31st March each year.

Application Procedure: IIT\

• The application summary is submitted to the Óffice of International Relations (Office of Dean OR)
• The Dean’s office does their internal processing
• All application summaries are nominated to the DAAD New Delhi office and hard copies sent along with the ranking list
• Deadline for the these applications to reach the office of the DAAD is 15th April

Points to be noted:\

• Only MTech scholars with minimum 8.5 CGPA are eligible to apply
• Direct applications are not entertained by the DAAD
• Nepalese and Bangladeshi MTech scholars can also apply for this scholarship
• TU Berlin, Stuttgart university and KIT Campus Alpin, Garmisch-Partenkirchen. are not accepting any applications

Further Process:\

• The DAAD processes all received application
• Scholars are informed about missing documents
• Scholars are informed if they also must apply to the concerned TU e.g. TU Munich
• Processed documents are sent to head office for final decision
• Applicants are informed by mid-June regarding selection
• 1 st September onward the German language course starts at the host TU

Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG)

Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG) annually invites the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur to select a small number of students to attend a short course for 8 weeks (undergrads) and 11 weeks (postgrads) at the University of Warwick. Events take place either virtually or on-site. Participants will carry out an individual research project that is related to the degree course for which they are registered. The purpose is to develop the research skills of the students in an industrially focused environment, encourage collaboration with WMG and encourage the development of nascent research ideas and to build the research profiles of WMG and IITKGP. In the past, supervisors have benefitted greatly from the work carried out by their students through contributions to publications and successful grant applications.

To propose a project, supervisors at IIT Kharagpur and WMG are required to jointly :\

• Assess its feasibility for the degree
• Agree to support and supervise a student

Once agreed, the WMG supervisor will submit an abstract of the project for suitability and how it fits with WMG’s research direction. As a result, the abstract should be short, concise (no longer than 400 words) and contain the following:\

• A description of the work, including details such as materials used, type of numerical methods and test methods.
• Names of supervisors from WMG and IIT
• Specify if it is a BTech, UG Dual or a MTech project
• A brief description of potential impact, particularly if it could lead to a PhD project.

Timeline

The programme runs every year between May and July for the BTech students and June and September for the MTech students.

Raman-Charpak Fellowship Programme

The Raman-Charpak Fellowship is a flagship programme for Indo-French researchers mobility implemented by the Indo-French Centre for Promotion of Advanced Research (IFCPAR/CEFIPRA) and is jointly funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India and the French Institute in India (IFI), French Embassy in India, Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Government of France. It aims at fostering mobility of highly qualified Indian & French PhD and French Master’s students between the two countries for a duration of 2 to 6 months in order to broaden the scope and depth of future engagements in Science, Technology and Innovation.
