Excellence as a driving force

Since 2012, TU Dresden has been one of the eleven German Universities of Excellence and is one of the leading and most dynamic research institutions in Germany. This Excellence status has initiated a dynamic change process at TUD. The university has become even more interdisciplinary and international, attracting outstanding researchers from all over the world. At the same time, this award means a great responsibility and is an incentive to continue to be excellent.

The Exzellence Strategy at TU Dresden

TU Dresden was successful in both funding lines of the Excellence Strategy:

1st funding line: Clusters of Excellence\ Overview of Clusters of Excellence

2nd funding line: Universities of Excellence\ Overview of Projects and Measures

With its application "TUD 2028 - Synergy and Beyond", TU Dresden was able to convince. The decision of the Excellence Commission in July 2019 (TUD press release), enables TUD to continue to play in the top league of universities in Germany. TU Dresden already has been bestowed with the title "University of Excellence" since 2012 – since its success in the predecessor programme of the Excellence Strategy, the Exzellence Initiative.

Funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) and the Free State of Saxony as part of the Excellence Strategy of the Federal and State Government
