### Intake 2026

#### Application procedure:

Within the frame of DAAD KOSPIE Tunisia scholarship holders carry out research at an Institute or Chair at TU Dresden (**English-speaking academic supervisors**).

**Study period at TU Dresden: 1 February 2026 – 31 July 2026** (an earlier or later start is not possible)

In their application, applicants have to **specify an Institute or Chair at TU Dresden** in which they would like to carry out their research. The **research areas of the chosen Institutes or Chairs** should be related to the applicant’s study course in Tunisia and especially with the applicant’s end-of-year project (projet de fin d'études). Applicants should research independently which **research areas** the institutes listed below focus on and then **select a suitable institute as well as a suitable supervisor**.

It is **not necessary** for the Tunisian applicants to **contact a desired academic supervisor** at the time of application. In the **DAAD application form**, only the **name of the desired Institute (or Chair)** and the **name of the desired supervisor** for the study stay at TU Dresden have to be indicated. The matching, i.e. the concrete request for supervision, is done by the International Office of TU Dresden for all applicants.

The following **Institutes and academic supervisors** are potentially available to supervise the Tunisian KOSPIE students. A list of specific projects that are available exclusively for DAAD KOSPIE Tunisia scholarship holders can be found below.

KOSPIE Tunisia Intake 2022

In 2022 we received 15 scholarship holders for the first time here at the TU Dresden via the DAAD KOSPIE Tunisia program. Many of the scholarship holders have worked on a research project, especially in the field of computer science and specifically on the subject of artificial intelligence.

In addition to their research project, the scholarship holders had the opportunity to take part in intercultural training, complete German courses and register for one of the numerous sports courses at the TU Dresden.

During their stay from February to the end of July 2022, they were looked after on site by our tutor Tilmann Reese. Together they undertook many activities, such as a city tour, an excursion to Görlitz, a hiking tour through Saxon Switzerland, a visit to Volkswagen's Transparent Factory and everyone had the opportunity to ice-skate for the first time in their lives. Our tutor was of course also helpful to the scholarship holders when it came to topics such as arrival, registration, opening a bank account, but also in personal matters such as visiting the doctor and tips for shopping or travelling.

The scholarship holders not only had the opportunity to immerse themselves in German student life, but were also able to bring their own culture closer to the other students and interested parties on the country evening of the International Coffee Hour of the Studentenwerk Dresden.

We wish everyone every success in their further studies.

#### Tunisian Evening at the Student Union - Students of the new DAAD KOSPIE Tunisia Program introduce themselves

Almost everyone knows Tunisia by name. Some immediately think of sun and sea, others of the desert and sand-colored cities, but only those who have already been there have a real idea of this country.  I felt exactly the same way until February 2022, when I consciously met a group of Tunisian students for the first time. They were the fifteen scholarship holders of the newly recruited DAAD KOSPIE Tunisia program.

I had prepared myself with an intercultural training, specialized in the Arab region, because it is my task to take care of the organizational aspects of the stay of these scholarship holders and to make it as pleasant as possible. It turned out very quickly that the intercultural training was definitely good for teaching certain topics in a more sensitive and culturally appropriate way, but also that this group of open-minded, cheerful and committed students would integrate into the TU community very quickly and sustainably.

After only three months of stay, it was already clear to many of them that TU Dresden was the best choice for their final projects and that they would like to stay here longer if possible. All of them quickly made new friends, got to know many beautiful sides of Dresden and its surroundings with our tutor Tilman, only I still had not learned much about the home country of the scholarship holders, so we tried to find a place for a country evening at the International Coffee Hour (ICH) of the Studentenwerk Dresden.

On 29.06. 2022 the time had come. We talked, explained, laughed a lot, ate delicious food, danced, sang and tested our new knowledge. All lovingly arranged by Amal, Ali, Emna, Hadil, Nour, Mohamed and Roua. Now I know that Tunisians understand almost all people from the Arabic-speaking world, but almost no one can understand them, that there is a place they call affordable Santorini and you can travel there really cheap, that in Tunisia you should never leave before you have eaten all the food on the table, you should always have a hostess gift with you and that it is better to open the gifts only when you are alone. But above all, I will take with me that you can laugh heartily with the people there, that you feel safe and welcome with them and that I have taken these people into my heart.

Thank you very much for this wonderful evening, I will miss you very much when you leave the TU Dresden at the end of July / beginning of August. I hope to see you again in Dresden or even in Tunisia, because from now on Tunisia is on top of my travel wish list.
