\ Financed by the STIBET-Programme of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the International Office of TU Dresden is offering Graduation Scholarships and  Scholarships for Highly Committed Students as well as Scholarships for the Promotion of Equal Opportunities to highly qualified international students of TU Dresden.

Please note the information concerning data privacy protection for the DAAD-STIBET Scholarship Programme (available in German only).

Who can apply?

International students of TU Dresden on the level of a diploma, bachelor, master or state exam student

Who is NOT eligible for these scholarships?

Application requirements

A prerequisite for funding is that:

Scholarship rate, funding period and scholarship duration

Scholarship rate: EUR 300,- per month

Funding period: \ 1 April - 30 September (summer semester)\ 1 October - 31 March (winter semester)

Duration of scholarship:\ 3 months (maximum until the deadline for the submission of final thesis), an extension is not possible

Application Deadlines

1 February until 18 March for the funding period 1 April - 30 September (summer semester)\ 1 August until 8 September for the funding period 1 October - 31 March (winter semester)

Documents that need to be submitted

Application form for a STIBET Scholarship\ • Certificate of enrollment for the funding period (i.e. not for the current semester, but for the following semester)\ • Current list of examination results (transcript) issued by the examination office\ • Confirmation of the examination office stating the achieved credits as well as the overall average grade

Please note that applicants with incomplete or missing application documents cannot be considered for a scholarship.

Please send your complete application documents by the specified application deadline exclusively in digital form (PDF documents named Last name_First name, max. 10 MB) to  with the subject line: DAAD STIBET.

After sending your email, you will receive an automatically generated ticket number. This serves as confirmation of receipt of your scholarship application.

We recommend sending your application documents in encrypted form, but encryption is not mandatory. Notes on the encryption of e-mails (optional):

For secure, encrypted sending of your application documents from your private e-mail address, first register with your private e-mail address in the SecureMail portal of TU Dresden (https://securemail.tu-dresden.de/). Then you can send your application documents as an attachment to the above-mentioned e-mail address via the SecureMail portal of TU Dresden.

For secure, encrypted sending of your application documents from your TUD email address (@tu-dresden.de or @mailbox.tu-dresden.de), you first need to apply for a digital certificate. After configuring the digital certificate, send your application documents as an attachment to the above-mentioned e-mail address.

Selection and awarding procedures (Scholarship for Study Completion)

The selection committee consists of at least three members of the International Office of TU Dresden.

Scholarships are awarded on the basis of a ranking list. The ranking of the scholarship applicants is based on the average grade of the study achievements and on the study progress in percent. The basis for this is the information provided by the Examinations Office (status of submission by the application deadline.) If the average grade cannot be determined by the Examinations Office, the average grade is then calculated by the International Office in a simplified procedure (= all grades are equivalent).

Scholarships for Highly Committed Students (Students with voluntary activities):

Who is NOT eligible for these scholarships?

Application requirements

A prerequisite for funding is that:

University groups at TUD, Fachschaftsrat des Studiengangs, STURA (Referat Ausländische Studierende), Campusbüro Uni mit Kind, Studentenwerk Dresden - no income from paid employment (internship or student job etc.) or state social benefits above EUR 634 gross/month (the sum of the STIBET scholarship rate of EUR 300/month and the income from paid employment and state social benefits may not exceed the DAAD maximum rate of EUR 934/month) - no other scholarships during the funding period (regardless of the type and amount of the scholarship payments) - the students are enrolled at TU Dresdenduring the funding period

What counts as engagement in the international context at TU Dresden?

Active engagement in an international context at the TU Dresden is the basis for an application for the engaged student scholarship. Such a commitment is often also referred to as an honorary position.

The engagement should fulfill the following criteria:

Scholarships for the Promotion of Equal Opportunities

Who can apply?

International students of TU Dresden on the level of a diploma, bachelor, master or state exam student

The Scholarships for the Promotion of Equal Opportunities can be used to support students with special challenges and life circumstances (e.g. due to a refugee background: refugee students from Ukraine and other war and crisis zones, due to health restrictions or disability, due to special care situations of their own children or due to family members in need of care as well as the strong dependence on gainful employment during studies).

The aim of awarding scholarships is to ensure that international students have a fair chance of success, taking appropriate account of unequal socio-cultural starting situations.

Who is NOT eligible for these scholarships?

Application requirements

Please describe in the application form to what extent you are affected by one of the special challenges listed in the call for applications and enclose suitable evidence with the application. This can be, for example: severely disabled person's pass, medical certificates, official documents, child's birth certificate, etc. Information that is not necessary may be blacked out.
