PhD & MTech Admissions 2026-27

Department of Bioengineering

The Department of Bioengineering offers PhD programme. Each student in this programme may have one or two advisers.

Basic qualifications for eligibility (anyone of the following)

1. Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Engineering/Technology or Graduates of 4-year Bachelor of Science programmes
2. MSc or equivalent degree in any branch of Science with minimum of two Mathematics courses beyond 12th Standard in BSc/MSc
3. Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in any branch of Science (four-year degree) with minimum of two Mathematics courses beyond 12th Standard
4. Medical degree at Bachelor’s or Master’s level in any specialization; Mathematics in 12th standard is preferred.

Interview process

• Domestic applicants are shortlisted on the basis of their performance in national exams or M.Tech. scores, as per institute norms. Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview at the institute.
• During the interview days, there is no written exam, candidates will be selected from one round of interviews.
• Bioengineering is an interdisciplinary department, and candidates may expect questions from basic mathematics, statistics, basic biology, and topics of their prior training (from the curricula of their B.Tech./M.Tech./M.Sc./M.B.B.S./M.Pharm. or equivalent ). The students should be prepared to answer questions on their basic coursework, which may not be directly aligned with their potential areas of interest for Ph.D.
