About refund requests
Your admission deposit is non-refundable unless Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) rejects your study permit application. To qualify for a refund, you must include proof that IRCC has rejected your study permit application. Once we’ve verified this and approved your request, we’ll refund your deposit.
You must request your refund by the last day to enrol for the term when you’ve been admitted. We don’t grant refunds if you’re still awaiting a decision from IRCC on your study permit application.
The Admissions Office will review your request, and after their assessment, you’ll receive an email outlining the next steps.
Important: If your study permit application was rejected and you plan on submitting a new application, don’t request a refund. You can request a new provincial attestation letter (PAL) by emailing our Student Immigration Advising team at imm-intl@uOttawa.ca.
If your study permit application was rejected and you plan on reapplying to the University of Ottawa within the same calendar year, don’t request a refund. You can receive a new PAL and submit another study permit application. You’ll receive your PAL automatically after accepting your new offer of admission.
If you have any questions or need support on the study permit application process, please contact our Student Immigration Advising team at imm-intl@uOttawa.ca, and explore more information on the study permit process (Question 8 in our FAQ, “What happens if my study permit is refused?”).
