Customized Training:

Since 2001, the Center has undertaken training in computer technology for teachers at PKU. Along with the evolution of technologies and their application to teaching and learning, the Center’s training program has gradually shifted its focus from computer training to the effective application of technologies in teaching practices. In 2016, the Center started to provide training courses aimed at improving the faculty’s teaching ability.

The customized training service is mainly aimed at providing targeted training courses according to the needs of faculties and departments. In recent years, the Center has been invited by different faculties and departments many times to provide special training for the use of MS Office and Teaching and Learning @ PKU.

Training courses currently available at CETL are as follows:

1) MOOC-related educational technologies

2) MS Office series

3) Use of Teaching and Learning @ PKU

4) Teaching methodology series

5) Teaching skills training for teaching assistants

Teaching Counselling:

Teaching counselling service is mainly aimed at promoting quality teaching by providing policy research, consultation on teaching and evaluation strategies, teaching process methods, and media support for faculties, departments and teachers. The consulting content includes curriculum planning, improvement of students’ motivation for learning, creation of learning environments, skilled use of technologies, teaching research, etc.

Micro-Teaching:

Micro-teaching is designed for teachers to give a 15-20-minute simulated classroom teaching on a piece of content chosen by themselves from a subject they are familiar with. Then, experts will analyze the teaching video and reflect together with the teachers to help them improve their teaching methods. Interview and feedback at the micro-teaching session are private and only open to the teachers themselves.
