Teaching Development Program for Young Teachers

This program is designed and implemented under the guidance of Opinions of Peking University on Promoting Faculty Development (Xiao Fa [2016] No. 144) issued by PKU and also represents an important task set by the Ministry of Education and under PKU’s undergraduate teaching reform. Since the fall semester of 2016, the Center for Excellent Teaching and Learning and the Personnel Department of PKU have jointly implemented the program and organized relevant training sessions and studies on teaching methods for young teachers and scientific researchers who joined PKU after September 1, 2015. Through introducing PKU’s teaching culture, advanced teaching concepts and methods to the newly recruited young teachers, the program is aimed at enhancing the faculty’s academic and teaching capabilities and hence improving the teaching quality of the university.
The program takes the form of classes taught in rotation annually, and requires the young teachers to earn full credits within three years. It is divided into four modules with 96 credits in total. The specific arrangements are shown in the following table:
