ArchCU Participates in China–Thailand Joint Design Camp and Exhibition at XAUAT

Asst. Prof. Sarayut Supsook, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Chulalongkorn University, together with Asst. Prof. Saranya Siangarom, Associate Dean, led a delegation to visit the Faculty of Architecture, Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology (XAUAT), People’s Republic of China.

The delegation comprised Asst. Prof. Vorapat Inkarojrit, Ph.D., Chaipat Ngambutsabongsophin, Ph.D., and 20 undergraduate students from two departments of the Faculty of Architecture, Chulalongkorn University. The visit coincided with the final presentations of the China–Thailand Joint Design Work Camp and the opening of a joint exhibition featuring design works by Thai and Chinese students.

The opening ceremony was held at the Faculty of Architecture, XAUAT, and attended by Assoc. Prof. Ye Fei, Ph.D., Associate Dean of the Faculty of Architecture; Prof. Dang Yutian, Ph.D.; Assoc. Prof. Liu Zonggang, Ph.D.; Asst. Prof. Li Zhen, Ph.D.; and students participating in the work camp. The ceremony was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Liu Zonggang, Ph.D. Assoc. Prof. Ye Fei, Ph.D. and Asst. Prof. Saranya Siangarom delivered remarks on behalf of the Chinese and Thai institutions, respectively.

The exhibition focused on the Khlong San area of Bangkok, with design proposals addressing three key themes: transport integration, heritage conservation, and waterfront development. The works were presented under the theme “Khlong San Public Transport-Oriented Development: Weaving Thai Culture from Sky to River.”

In addition to the exhibition, both institutions organized academic lectures and reporting sessions. Assoc. Prof. Liu Zonggang, Ph.D. delivered an opening lecture titled “Dialogue with History.” Faculty members from the Faculty of Architecture, Chulalongkorn University, presented lectures under the theme “Urban and Architectural Conservation in Thailand.”

Asst. Prof. Sarayut Supsook presented “The Museification of ‘Kudichin’: A Portuguese Community in Bangkok.” Asst. Prof. Vorapat Inkarojrit, Ph.D. presented “Cultural Lighting: Architectural Lighting for Cultural Tourism and Urban Renewal,” and Chaipat Ngambutsabongsophin, Ph.D. presented “Architectural Heritage Conservation.”

On 19 December 2025, the deans of both institutions held a working meeting to review previous cooperation, discuss scholar exchange plans, and consider future collaboration in 2026, including joint research topics and jointly supervised student programs.
