Established on 14 July 1964 under the visionary leadership of Late Dr. P.K. Kelkar, the Campus School was conceptualized to provide quality primary education for the children of IIT Kanpur staff. With guidance from international education experts through the KIAP Programme, the school was built on a strong foundation of modern child development and teaching practices. It operates as a nonprofit under IIT Kanpur.
Academic & Co-Curricular Activities
This year, a variety of fun and meaningful activities were conducted to ensure every student participated. These included competitions like recitation, fancy dress, and story writing. Celebrations such as Sports Day, Teacher’s Day, and Children’s Day brought joy and excitement. Cultural events like special assemblies and science demonstrations enriched the learning experience. Students from classes KG to V went on excursions to places like the Kanpur Zoo, ISKCON Temple, and Bithoor. Community drives such as plantation activities and open house events further encouraged learning beyond the classroom.
Infrastructural Changes
This academic session brought numerous enhancements to the learning environment:
- Swings in play area
- New teaching aids for KG students
- Refurbished labs, staff rooms, and office spaces
- Installation of interactive panels, sound systems, laptops, and printers
- New furniture in English, Math, and EVS labs
- Collection of used electronic devices from IIT departments through “Our Community–Our School” campaign
- Refurbished labs, staff rooms, and office spaces
- Introduction of computers, audiovisual aids, printers, and sound systems
- New wooden cupboards, sunmica tables, and age-appropriate furniture
- PVC wall and ceiling panels with electrical upgrades for safety and aesthetics
Societal Impact
The infrastructural improvements weren’t just physical upgrades, they were steps toward educational empowerment: Interactive panels made classes engaging and informative, the EVS lab inspired curiosity through hands-on learning, and a strong sense of community was fostered through parental involvement and teacher collaboration.
In every celebration, every upgrade, and every smile, Campus School continues to echo its legacy of love, learning, and leadership. From tradition to technology, we are moving forward rooted in values, reaching for the stars.
