#### General Information

IIT Kanpur has a Joint Degree Program (JDP) at the Ph.D. level with 12 universities and recently also approved a JDP for MTech and MBA.

1. What is the process of enrolling in a Joint Degree Program?

Students who are interested in joining a Joint Degree Program (JDP) at the doctoral level will first take approval for the same from their supervisor. They will then identify a faculty at a partner university who is willing to be a co-supervisor for the student. 2. Are Joint Degree Programs open for all departments?

3. Does IITK provide any financial support for students enrolled in a JDP?

In JDPs where the Partner University does not provide travel support, IITK will provide travel assistance to JDP students in the form of one-time return economy airfare (as per the Government of India travel rules).

4. Will students continue to receive their stipend from IITK during their stay at the Partner University?

This varies from program to program. Kindly check with OIR for further details.

5. What is the maximum and minimum time a JDP student can spend at the Partner University?

The time period that a student can spend at the Partner University varies from program to program, with a minimum of 6 months to a maximum of up to three years. Kindly check with OIR for further details.

6. Will JDP students have to pay tuition fee at the Partner University during their stay there?

JDP students will pay tuition fee only to their Home Institution, even during the time they are visiting the Partner University.

7. When can a student apply to join a JDP?

Students can apply for a JDP program if all their coursework is complete and they have passed their comprehensive examination.
