Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) once again demonstrated its strong commitment to advancing higher education by receiving 14 awards at the 2025 Anugerah Diktisaintek or Diktisaintek Awards, held in Jakarta on Friday, December 19, 2025. This achievement reflects UGM’s consistent efforts in strengthening education quality, research, and institutional collaboration at both national and international levels.
Organized by Kementerian Pendidikan Tinggi, Sains, dan Teknologi (Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology), Anugerah Diktisaintek is an annual event that recognizes higher education institutions and partners from government bodies, institutions, industries, and media for their contributions to the development of higher education in Indonesia.
One of the notable accolades received by UGM was the award for Highest Student Mobility Performance under the International Learning category. In addition, UGM was also honored with the Silver Winner award in the category of Best Government or Non-Governmental Organization Partnership. Both awards highlight the university’s active role in internationalization of higher education and building impactful cross-sector collaborations.
Beyond international learning and partnerships, UGM also received awards in several other areas, including research and development, protocol affairs, and public relations. In total, 572 awards across 15 subcategories were presented by Kemendiktisaintek to universities and partners throughout Indonesia in 2025.
These achievements mark an important milestone for UGM as it continues to uphold its commitment to advancing the quality of higher education in Indonesia. The university remains dedicated to maintaining its position as a world-class university, as evidenced by its ongoing internationalization efforts, including expanded global partnerships and the growing presence of international students studying at UGM.
In its efforts to enhance the quality of degree programs, UGM consistently welcomes international students through various scholarship schemes. These include government-funded programs such as the Kemitraan Negara Berkembang (KNB) Scholarship and The Indonesian Aid Scholarship (TIAS), as well as university-funded schemes like the Gadjah Mada International Fellowship (GMIF). In recent years, UGM has also admitted a growing number of degree-seeking students from Timor-Leste across several faculties.
These international students have demonstrated notable achievements during their studies at UGM. Most recently, two degree students–Sundas Ejaz from Pakistan, studying in the Faculty of Pharmacy and Awabeen Samsuding from Thailand, studying in the Faculty of Cultural Sciences–received awards at the Festival Handai Indonesia 2025, held in October, where they showcased their talents in storytelling and poetry using the Indonesian language.
Looking ahead, these awards are expected to serve as motivation for higher education institutions and partners to further strengthen their performance and innovation, supporting higher education learning that delivers meaningful impact to the academic community and society at large.
