Super-Smart Textiles (SuS-Tex) for healthcare and sports \ Developing next generation wearable technologies for healthcare and sports applications.

Access to healthcare is an ever-growing international issue. More than 15% of the current global population require rehabilitation care, but the majority do not have access to healthcare.

Remote monitoring of human movements and physiological parameters is critical for future healthcare, enabling pivotal solutions like telerehabilitation and telemedicine that can significantly increase healthcare access. These technologies can also support remote training and performance enhancement for athletes.

Developing accurate, comfortable, low-cost wearable technologies for monitoring body movements and physiological parameters is extremely challenging. Existing products are often bulky, expensive, need recharging, contain limited range and are uncomfortable to wear.

The SuS-Tex Research Cluster brings together world-class expertise in textiles, materials, engineering, sports, design, healthcare and AI with globally leading industrial and academic partners.

Together, we will develop pioneering wearable technologies for accurate, unobtrusive, self-powered and low-cost monitoring of body movements and physiological parameters.
