The TRansport AI innovation CEntre (TRAICE) is one of the UK’s largest transport research and innovation centres and the first to offer a fully interdisciplinary approach to address critical transport challenges.

Building on the University’s long history of delivering internationally excellent research in transport, TRAICE aims to become a leading Centre of Excellence for advancing smart, safe, efficient, equitable, and sustainable transport.

With more than 90 academic staff from all nine of the University's Schools and a vibrant community of PhD and postdoctoral researchers, TRAICE encompasses transport and vehicle technologies, infrastructure engineering, design and human factors, economics, and social and environmental sciences, while harnessing the latest advances in data and AI technologies.

Our work spans seven cross-cutting research and innovation themes.
