Transforming practices across the digital ecosystem to accelerate the path to Net Zero.
Global data creation is growing faster than ever before, demanding ever-increasing amounts of energy to power data processing and storage. Yet, up to 65% of this data may only ever be used once - or not at all. Transforming how data is generated, processed and stored is key to reducing our growing digital carbon footprint.
The digital decarbonisation research cluster is paving the way for a paradigm shift in the way we approach digital practices and tools - such as mobile devices, IoT sensors, and digital twins - and their impact on the planet, enabling future solutions where technology, environmental stewardship and user wellbeing converge.
