Being the home to so many sports teams, stadiums and events, London is one of the best places to get connected to the world of sports through volunteering.

## A great city for volunteering!

### Why volunteer

Volunteering is a great way to give back to your community, and also a wonderful addition to your CV.

Beyond that, loads of sports teams rely on volunteers to help them run. Especially the semi-professional sports clubs that are an amazing part of sport in the city.  Volunteering makes a real difference

### How to get involved

A fantastic way to start is through [Simply Volunteer.](https://simplyvolunteerlondon.uk/) It is a volunteering network designed to help people build skills and contribute to their communities.  There you can find a range of volunteering activities but also those specifically focused on sport!

Many sports organisations and other institutions, such as the [London FA](https://www.londonfa.com/volunteers), [Sport England,](https://www.sportengland.org/guidance-and-support/volunteering-qa) [local council pages](https://hackney.gov.uk/parks-volunteering) and more will provide you with the information you need to get involved and make a difference!

Also, look out for volunteering at the major sporting events, such as the [London Marathon](https://www.londonmarathonevents.co.uk/london-marathon/volunteering) or the increasingly popular [Hackney Half](https://www.hackneymoves.com/volunteer). It's a great way to take in these amazing community events. They are also really fun days out. Last year, [Loughborough University London students](https://www.lborolondon.ac.uk/news-events/news/2025/london-marathon-volunteering/) volunteered at the London Marathon!
