Urban Sciences Building
The Urban Sciences Building (USB) is the dedicated home of the School of Computing and is located on our Helix campus.
Purposefully designed to foster education and research, it offers a dynamic environment where you can study alongside cutting-edge labs and engage with pioneering projects.

Opened in 2017, the £58m USB is a pioneering space where the latest advancements in urban science and technology directly enhance your learning. It houses leading research centres such as:
- The National Edge AI Hub
- Open Lab

A cutting-edge learning environment
Study in a building that brings together teaching with research, featuring labs dedicated to cybersecurity, energy systems, and smart grid technology.
With over 4,000 sensors throughout the building, the USB is a living laboratory collecting live data on environmental and system performance. The USB won a Green Gown Award for 'Campus of the Future' for its exemplary low carbon and living lab features.
