## What is Aerospace Engineering?
Aerospace Engineering is a dynamic and future-focused discipline. It explores how we design, develop, and improve technologies that enable flight, from electrified aircraft and drones to satellite systems and space vehicles.
Aerospace engineers play a vital role in tackling real-world challenges. These include reducing carbon emissions, advancing navigation systems, and creating sustainable solutions for global transport and communication.
### Aerospace Engineering at Newcastle
At Newcastle, our Aerospace Engineering courses equip you with a strong foundation in core engineering principles. You'll also obtain the specialist knowledge needed to thrive in the aerospace sector.
You'll explore topics such as:
- renewable fuels
- electrification of flight
- space, data and digitalisation
- sustainability in engineering and manufacture
- entrepreneurship
You’ll gain hands-on experience in our specialist Aerospace Teaching Laboratory, home to wind tunnels, jet engines, flight simulators, and a drone flight zone. You’ll also work on real-world projects in the new Stephenson Building and student-led Makerspace.
