## What is Mechanical Engineering?

Mechanical engineering is a broad and dynamic discipline. It combines design, manufacturing, and problem-solving to create everything from microscale devices to large industrial systems such as spacecraft and machine tools.

### Mechanical Engineering at Newcastle

Our degrees will give you a broad knowledge of Mechanical Engineering. You’ll also have an opportunity to **specialise in a variety of disciplines**, including:

- biomedical engineering
- design and manufacturing

- mechatronics
- sustainable transport engineering
