University Agreement

Target agreements and University Agreements are a key management tool for academic institutions. They are particularly used in the current reform process in Bavaria’s universities to define focal points for development and for shaping university profiles. During negotiations, the state and universities treat each other as equals. This procedure has advantages for both sides: The state does not get involved in day to day operations and ensures financial planning certainty to the universities. The universities can act independently within the framework of the agreed targets.

- Target agreement dated June 20/July 18, 2011 between the University, Universitätsklinikum Erlangen and the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts to temporarily increase the number of new students in Medicine to accommodate the double intake of school leavers

- Target agreement dated July 20, 2009 between the University and the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts
- Target agreements in March 2009 between the University and the German Research Foundation (DFG) with the aim of achieving gender equality in research
