FAU’s guest houses provide rooms for guest researchers from abroad for the initial period of their stay to allow them to feel at ease right from the start and to concentrate on their research. The common rooms are the ideal location to meet and have a chat with other residents. Internet (WiFi) is available free of charge in all apartments and common rooms. You can easily reach all the guest houses by public transport.
Accommodation for (international) researchers
The minimum rental period for guest houses is one month (from the first to the last day in the month) and the maximum rental period is one year.
As a rule, you are able to check in from Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 6 pm. If the day you plan to arrive or leave is a public holiday in Germany or at the weekend, you will not be able to get the keys to the house until the following working day.

- 4 x 1 room apartments, approx. 49 m² (max 2 people)

- 2 x 3 room apartments, approx. 95 m² (max 4 people)

- 2 double rooms, approx. 40 m² (one wheelchair accessible), (max 3 people)
- 2 x 3 room apartments, approx. 62 m² (max 4 people)
- 7 maisonette apartments, approx. 38 m² (max 2 people)
- 1 x 1 room apartment, approx. 38 m² (wheelchair accessible), (max 2 people)
The common room is available to all guests.
You can of course rent an apartment for your own exclusive use.

Some of the apartments (4 double rooms) have their own kitchen.
The shared kitchen is available to all guests.
You can of course rent an apartment for your own exclusive use.
The conference rooms are also available for use by external guests on a day by day basis.

House rules for all guest houses
- Garbage must be separated and disposed of correctly
- Windows should be opened regularly to let fresh air in
- Comply with quiet times
- Open fire prohibited
- Cooking only allowed in kitchens
- Food may only be kept in the refrigerators or cupboards provided for that purpose
- No open food packages to be left out in the apartment
- Take care of the apartment, devices and furnishings
- Report any damage immediately
- Overnight guests should be registered in advance
- You will be charged for any improper use and damage
- You must follow all instructions given by the guest house management
- Check-in and out only at a reasonable time
- The apartment must be cleared and swept through by 8 am on the day of departure
Please note
Unfortunately, the University’s guest houses cannot accommodate all guests at the University. Sometimes the houses are booked for months in advance. In this case, you will need to search on the private housing market. For further information, please contact uni-gaestehaus@fau.de.
