Founded in 1759, the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities, one of Germany’s oldest scientific academies, is not only a traditional intellectual society but also an important institution of international significance. It focuses primarily on fundamental research in the sciences and the humanities, mainly through large, long-term research projects. Since 2010, the Academy has been promoting excellent young talents from all disciplines with its young academy (‘Junges Kolleg’).

The Young Academy is the funding programme of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities aimed at excellent young researchers in Bavaria.
