The Academy’s goal is to support science and literature, and in doing so to help preserve and promote culture. It is divided into three classes: mathematics and natural sciences, humanities and social sciences, and literature. Each class has up to 50 full and corresponding members. Full members must be resident in Germany; researchers who live in other countries may be elected as corresponding members.
